The Main Stage in Welles Park is the sonic heartbeat of Folk & Roots with a boundless supply of rhythms, grooves, and melodies from far and wide to last you all weekend long. Bring the Family!

Create some collaborative crafts with your potential Picasso and mini-Vincent Van Gogh in the Kids' Art Tent. Shake your collective tail feathers in the rockin' Kids' Tent. Bring a blanket, grab some food from the delicious Lincoln Avenue food vendors, and set up camp with the whole family all weekend long. There's something for everyone!

In the Dance Tent, you're the star! With participatory workshops and eclectic live music to help you move and groove, your toes will be tapping all weekend long. From West African to Irish Step, from Clogging to Capoeira, from Polka to Mambo, and much more - the Dance Tent is open to all ages and abilities.

14th Annual Chicago Folk & Roots Lineup Announced!

It's that time again! Round up your friends, grab your kids, pack a blanket and sunscreen, and grab a spot on the grass of Welles Park and set up camp because you're not going to want to miss a minute of this year's 14th Annual Chicago Folk & Roots Festival!

Saturday's Main Stage highlights include quintessential Texas blues rocker Delbert McClinton, Louisiana's favorite Cajun sons Lost Bayou Ramblers, Austin's rockabilly queen Rosie Flores, and New Orleans brass band sensation Glen David Andrews. Sunday night finds us swaying to the sounds of Tuareg guitar great Bombino, grooving to Congolese rumba-meets-hip hop-soul with Baloji, and finishing the Fest on our feet with the sounds of salsa and Latin jazz with Maraca!

Of course Folk & Roots is not only about the Main Stage music. Check back often for line up announcements for our family friendly Kids Tent, our interactive Dance Tent, our faculty showcase at the Staff Stage, and the open, participatory jams at the Gazebo. Watch this space!

What's a Chicago Folk & Roots Festival?

Chicago Folk & Roots Festival is a two day celebration that attracts 30,000 people for a spectacular array of music and dance performances, workshops, children's activities, and an assortment of locally-owned food, drink and retail vendors. Chicago Folk & Roots Festival is one of the most anticipated neighborhood festivals of the summer and has built a solid reputation for artistic quality.
